Presenting a gallery of detailed locomotives to run
on 'Bournemouth West for the S&DJR', usually after they've gone
through the Grouping
Workbench phase of having extra bits and pieces added, or have
had paint jobs and lining.
LMS 4-6-2T Princess of Wales No 6975
This is a Langley Models white metal kit on a Poole-era Graham Farish
chassis, unidentified but a 4-6-0 type with added pony truck at the
rear. The loco was purchased complete, with all-black livery and straw
yellow lettering, but it still needed vacuum pipes, real coal, lamps,
and the top half of a driver to squeeze between the cab door and the
visible motor. Work began with this workbench
entry.
LMS BoBo Ivatt 3MT/Type 1 Diesel Locomotive
No 800
Designed by the LMS but put into service in 1950 under British
Railways ownership, this prototype diesel was No 10800. It never
actually appeared in LMS livery and lettering as the No 800 shown
here, so it's a bit of a 'what if' version of the loco. It's a
Parkwood Models resin body shell (see
Parkwood Models
Diesel 10800 Kit), with brass rod used for all the handrails and
pipes. The chassis is a Poole-era Graham Farish Class 20 chassis
with fixed split gears (see
Replacing Split
Gears on a Farish Class 20). The paintwork is a little too
glossy, and needs dulling down with a coat of satin varnish.
